Sound Only Heard in Left Side of Headphones

Hello! I am wanting to record voice and guitar simultaneously using separate mics. I'm using an Alexis iO2 Express and two XLR mics, one in mic input 1 and the other in mic input 2. My headphones output are set to mono and I've made sure to set the mics to mono using ASIO4ALL. In Ableton settings, I've made sure to set the input channels to mono as well and I am getting sound through each mic correctly. However, the sound is only coming through (and recording) on the left side of my headphones. I've done all I can think of to fix this and have had no success. What am I missing?

Do the headphones normally work on both sides?

Yes, I use them all the time with no issues. But normally they are plugged in directly to my laptop.

Yes, first thing is what Caleb Britt said above. Need to first eliminate the headphones themselves from the problem.

If the headphones work fine, then there are many places where things could be resolved. Play music from something other then Ableton - iTunes, Winamp, etc and see if you have the same problem.

Also:

1. Why are you setting your headphone output to be mono? What is the advantage of doing this?

What does the recorded sound file look like? Is the recorded sound only on one side of a stereo file as well?

It turns out my headphones 1/4" adapter was not working properly. After replacing it, the sound is now working fine in both sides of my headphones.

Thats a common issue. Sometimes the cable goes bad as well.
