Advice on Sample-Packs or Komplete

Been Djing for 5 years in House and Garage genre. Took first steps towards production a two years ago, learning the interface and its library. Studied music prodiction. Now making projects of my own.

My question is around Abletons built in drums, samples and plug-ins. Whilst they can be enough or thier own, I find signed tracks seem to have slightly more 'weight' (though I know this is a combination of "right sound, right processing"). I have purchaed a few 3rd party one shot sample packs to expand my libary. Sampling bass and creating drum racks.

Looking for advice around heading down the sample-pack road further or to make a jump to Komplete? Any input or guidence would be appreciated.

Well komplete is a great package with great instruments, at times a little bit overwhelming. One thing that I am sure is that Komplete is probably the best value for your money around since it comes with so much stuff.

First, I would be sure I want one of Ni synths or other third party stuff. Massive, FM8, absynth, monark are all quite great, personally I use U-he diva a lot and I would pick it over most of NI just because I love it sounds (but it can't do it all, far from it).

Second, maybe you could add some real analog hardware processing instead, something like the elektron analog heat or the elysia karacter.

I own Live Suite and several commercial packs. What do I use in every project? Komplete. Version 9 in my case, which can be found second hand.

With a focus on drum samples I think the Battery drums are pretty good, and while I don't have Battery installed I have the samples from it in drum racks. I seldom use samples though as I have drum machines.

The drum sample pack I really like for drums is Thermionic Solid State Drums by Goldbaby.

Personally, in general I prefer raw non-finished sounds that can be molded by processing, but I love what Goldbaby did to the 5000 sounds in that pack.

My processing in Live is done both individually per track and with bussing some parts as well as the whole kit.
