Longer Midi Note Length

Post by Tikayer » Tue Jan 17, 2017 12:05 pm

Hi guys,,

I want to able to hold the (short) midi note I trigger for 1 bar (4/4).
I tried using the Midi FX -> NOte Length, but I can set the length up to 1/4 note only. (But I need 4/4 a.k.a. 1 bar)

* I already turned up the gate to 200%. So I'm at 2/4 (half bar) now.
* I already tried putting 2 / 3 Note Length fx on the track, but it only works once as far is I can see.
* I need to have this on 1 track, so combining 2 note length fx from 2 different tracks is no go. Even though I tried it, and it still didn't work.

Any ideas to reach my goal? Hope someone can help me with this. Can't find much about the Midi Note Length on the internet..

Edit: I want to do this live.. Trigger from a midi keyboard, and hold short midi trigger for 1 bar.

Not really. Think i forgot to mention that i want to do this live. So basically i want to trigger once (short note press on my midi keyboard), then let the midi note length to play 1 bar. That note will trigger a arpeggiator which triggers every 1 bar.. Thats why i need to have the hold length of 1 bar.,

If the tempo is constant you can use 'Time' mode of the Midi FX and calculate the time from BPM.

BarTime = 240000/BPM.

Example BPM=80: 240000/80 = 3000ms.

Nope. In this situation, at moment of triggering, i'm not even getting to the point of playing the instrument.

I'm going to be rude and ask why you can't just hold the key down for a bar.

Add another arpeggiator.

Set it to Run, repeat 1, 1 bar, gate 100%

Yesss, not exactly correct, but this kind of did the trick. On the First arp I used 1/2 bar instead of 1 full bar as you suggested.
Thanks for thinking with me.. !
