nice tutorial, and I salute you for helping the scene.

it's a very basic turorial, aimed for beginners, altho I think its TOO basic, if someone can manage that, then they shouldnt be allowed to own a computer :(

What I really would like to see are more advanced techniques, I've seen several live DJ's via my own run club/bar nights, and each one uses a different technique. I'd like to see Techniques for mixing, sampling, adding effects, getting audio effects like some of the pro's get etc lets even get techniques that are used for different genres.

Anyway, its a great idea and you got my support anyway.

goodluck

tips for improvement:

Audio quality needs to be increased
script the commentry

... so same as already been said.

Sorry dude, but you get a suck completely from me simply for not testing it with macs as well as PCs. With Live the argument that macs are not as popular is out the window, running a test of a possibly Pro tutorial for only one platform for a dual platform app, is a no no.
I think the same about web page development, if it isn't compatible with all platforms, then it's a crap web page until it is.

there are tons of WMP videos out there I can watch just fine, so it's not the format itself....

This is ONLY a preview, all will be made in flash format for cross browser compatibility.

Routing tutorial

Post by earwig » Wed Sep 14, 2005 10:57 am

I thought it was basic for my own needs but felt it was well constructed and reminded me of the Spectrasonic tutorials, very clear and demystifying. However the MAC issue is relivant as I am a mac user and slight differences can be frustrating when not made aware, I'm sure Ableton would outline any such differences.
What I really want to know about is Auto Warp and how best results are acheived on whole tracks.

Nice work and thanks for making a version that I can watch on my Mac. The tutorial is very basic and the most important information for me was why to use such a kind of routing at all: to gain more control. I agree that the audio quality should be better.

a little tip,
if you're going to make them all in flash format, you may want to resize to something smaller than 700 or so pixels vertically.

my screen is 1024x768 and at the current res, the .swf is all "scrunched" up to fit on my screen, and when this happens, things in the Live interface become less defined and sometimes completely illegible.

so making the native resolution of the video no greater than 700 pixels vertically should remedy this.

Ok I'll keep in mind doing smaller sizes.
