Kontakt Automation

I recorded a track using a Kontakt instrument and I was riding the mod wheel for dynamics on the instrument. It recorded those mod wheel moves just fine, but where are they? The automation lane doesn't show any movement at all. I hadn't configured the dynamics in the plugin box of ableton till after and I suspect that has something to do with it.

In the future if I configure the dynamic control in the plugin first that should then record visible lane automation, correct? I.E., I hit configure in the plugin box, hit the dynamic fader in Kontakt, which pulls up the control in the Ableton plugin box. Then I hit the midi learn tab of Ableton, click the plugin dynamic control of the plugin box, wiggle my mod wheel, turn midi learn off and then I can record automation. Does this sound right?

Is there a way to show the automation that is there on the automation lane? Where is it stored?

in the recoreded midi-clip section envelops
or short : rightclick on the macro-knop and then: show modulation

rack it
map it
then automate it

this way you always have access very qick to the recorded automation/modulation
via the context-menu of the mapped macro-knob
