Stop Auto Indexing, please!!!!

Post by nicholsonc55 » Fri Mar 10, 2017 8:06 am

Ableton Support, stop this nonsense auto-index stupid function. Include a option to disable it, this is stupid, I cannot use my DAW 15-30 minutes because the damn Suite is working my HDD's and it's making noise and slows the DAW like crazy to index nothing!!!

I don't add new files to browser, I don't change files already added but the damn thing Ableton is using my HDD's and searching for whatever or arranging I don't know what.

Include a damn option to STOP THIS STUPID AUTO INDEX!!

THANKS!

that used to be a bigger issue than it is now. especially as there were times when my index file got corrupted frequently and the whole thing started indexing all over again. nowadays i moved my whole ableton & m4l library to icloud and that works pretty good it´s about 500MB each (no samples) syncing my macbook and my mac pro perfectly. samples, packs etc... are added from a local hd as places.
Mac Pro 5.1
UAD Apollo16
Push 1

I don't get why this function don't get a STOP button. I don't want my HDD's to work under heavy load everytime I open Ableton.

Until I add locations to my browser, everything works fine, now Ableton opens in 30 seconds, then heavy HDD load begins.

I work at night with low volume, cannot work if this stupid indexing starts.

Stop scanning, stop indexing please!

I started to switch slowly to Studio One 3, that DAW opens fast and browser is not scanning for anything, ever

Found a way to stop this stupid auto index, CTRL+Alt+del, then stop or Kill Ableton Index.exe

Probably a multi million dollar company don't know to patch this or are too busy updating Ableton only for Push lately.

Yeah, right.

Reality check for Live 9.7 trough 9.7.1:

Updates for Push/Push 2: 84
Updates not for Pushes: 44

About double as many than the rest for Push. That's many but not only.

As the Pushes are the hardware interfaces to Live, then why should Ableton fail to update these? Such a skewed notion.

Mate, you are retard or what. I am not asking to put a rocket on the way to Jupiter, only an On/Off for Auto Index.
If you are happy that you own a light pulsating midi controller on your desk, fine, I purchased Ableton Suite, not Push.

We do not at all tolerate that sort of name calling on here on the forums. Treat each other with respect or you will be banned, and all bans are permanent.

It must be a bug or something.

I have a new Macbook, installed Live, added my external Sample Library and every time I open Live, Places starts the indexing process.
I never had this issue before on my older system, same external drive, same sample folder size...
