Ableton Live 9 not exporting audio properly

I have an odd problem.
I export an Ableton set as audio, and it creates a WAV file. This WAV opens in Itunes and Media player etc, but will not play. No error message, just no playing. The applications recognise the length of the project, and i can move the "cursor" up and down the time line but it doesn't play. Just sits without moving along the timeline.
When i import the WAV into Ableton it plays.

My export settings
Rendered track - master (same behaviour with individual tracks though)
File type - wav
sample rate - 44100
Bit depth - 32 (i experimented with all bit depths)
Dither - triangular
Create analysis file - on (experimented with off also)
Normalise - on and off
Convert to mono - on and off

Soundcloud upload - off
Convert t video - off

It is a fairly new PC so Ableton re-installed, but all audio is working perfcetly on it, and I can't see from the re-install what would be causing this.

I have closed live after doing this (I should have put that in the note). Maybe i will re-boot.

OK, so a strange solution that i might need help understanding.
I rebooted the PC and now the files play. I'm assuming this is related to the driver issue Antic said... but why would I need a full reboot?

I had the same issue, and closing Ableton after exporting the audio solved it, now I can play the files. Thanks.
