Lengthen a drawn midi note

Post by struknes » Mon May 29, 2017 2:26 pm

Is there a way to lengthen a drawn MIDI note without making the grid larger?

The only way i can see of lengthening MIDI notes created with draw command (the pencil) larger, is to widen the grid. I'd like to keep the grid smaller (so I can write MIDI into those in-between beats), and get the pencil to produce longer MIDI notes.

One click with the pencil draws the note between two gridlines.

Release your mouse button and hover over the beginning or end of that note. When the cursor changes from pencil to a left (at note start) or right (at note end) bracket, you can click-drag the note length. When you hold ALT while dragging the note boundary won't snap to the grid and you can define a free length.

Shift + arrow keys.
I personally use the keyboard commands to plot out MIDI arrangements quickly, I place one note with the mouse and use a combination of CTRL + D, Arrow keys and Shift to develop MIDI sequences.

Hope this helps!
