Sample Editor lags

I've been having trouble with some really headache-inducing lag issues when working with audio files in the Sample Editor window and I haven't been able to figure out why.

I don't remember when the lag issues started, but its been this way for the past two updates or so and so far I haven't been able to do anything about it.

My system specs are:
Windows 7 SP1 x64, all updated.
Ableton Live Suite x64 9.7.1, running on a Samsung SSD 850 EVO with a sample library on a 2x WD Black in a RAID 1 configuration
Intel i7-4790K 4Ghz LGA1150
32GB DDR3 memory
Asus Sabertooth Z97 Mark 1/USB 3.1
RME Fireface 400

Have anyone had this kind of problem and might know something about why its misbehaving?

My Windows is optimized for working with audio and there is no lag apparent in the task manager window, as it seems only to be within Ableton itself. I'm not having any audio interference like crackling or pops and such so I'm lost as to why it cant work right

Hope someone can offer some insight or thoughts as to why.
