Re: How do I finally make my music sound "professional"??
Old thread but so relevant. I struggle with the same thing. I just posted my first two (real) tracks on SoundCloud and can really notice the contrast between my lower quality track in the professional track after I play them consecutively. Couple things I've read in interviews that I'm working on include:
1. Automation in the arrangement ...A lot of it
2. Increase energy level at key times in a song
3. Clashing frequencies. I'm horrible about this. I've been trying to resolve by identifying key frequencies, 2 to 3, of a trap. And cutting those frequencies out of the other tracks when play consecutively
4. Testing it out in the car on iPhone speakers, on an iMac, on a MacBook, and good quality headphones
5. Testing get well there's a lot of background noise like the washing machine or dishwasher running
6. Getting good monitors properly tweeting about. Haven't started this one but goal is to finish in August
PS. Keep in mind these are not recommendations, it's just what I am consciously doing. I'm still by far a beginner
