LOOPER delay problem????????
LOOPER delay problem????????
Everthing else I use in Ableton works fine for me.
The Looper Audio effect though records out of sync. I want it to follow the song tempo(SONG CONTROL:none TEMPO CONTROL: follow song tempo) and
as a test I recorded the metronome output to a normal clip - works perfect - aligns with the beat of the measure.
When I record the metronome to Looper to test sync there is a significant delay to each beat of the metronome. where it is not on the beat.
The metronome signal will not appear on the beat but
almost exactly a 16t note late. Its not latency . I tried everything to fix this.(adjusting track delay etc. ) It occurs whether I use midi to trigger recording or the mouse.

Re: LOOPER delay problem????????
what gear are you using in your setup?
Re: LOOPER delay problem????????
Thanks for replying
I am using Ableton 8.05 with Apogee Ensemble with a new iMac OS 10.5.6 /4 GB ram/ 2.66 Ghz intel Core 2 duo.
I disconnected all USB remotes and mid remotes.
I noticed this problem when using the Looper( audio device), that my audio wasn't in sync.
It sounded late and when I dragged the Looper audio file to a clip I could see that sync was off and late.
Then I did some testing with the metronome recording to a clip/ and to the Looper.
Clip records in sync perfectly
Looper records audio late????
I notice that if I record metronome audio to the track( withno Looper plug in)
and have the monitor set to "in" or "auto" the metronome audio records late - just like to looper
If I record to the track with monitor set to "off" the metronome beat is correct and on the beat

Re: LOOPER delay problem????????
This is normal behaviour for Live concerning the monitor setting. But looper should not do this.merloop wrote: I notice that if I record metronome audio to the track( withno Looper plug in)

Re: LOOPER delay problem????????
Do you use Looper?
Are you are saying when you use Looper it does not record late/out of sync way on your system.
I am stumped. I have two computers( G4 laptop) and ( new imac) with Ableton Live 8.05 on them and they both
display the late looper delay behaviour

Re: LOOPER delay problem????????
Do you have any 3rd party plugs on the track or master channel?
Re: LOOPER delay problem????????
no third party plug ins on track or master. Just upgraded to 8.09 and Looper still acting the same
tried disconneting all devices , deleted all tracks. except for Looper track. - still no sync

Re: LOOPER delay problem????????
So.By moving the Looper Track output delay to -36 ms. It is sonically in sync
but when you drag the Looper clip to another Clip to another track the audio appears delayed in its waveform view. You have to
have to use the same dela on the new track to keep it in sync.
This is all pretty obvious. But is this how LOOPER is supposed to work.
Haven't received any answer from tech support.

Re: LOOPER delay problem????????
hhmm.. no idea..
on a side note, how is the apogee? I've been contemplating getting one.. that or RME.. how do the preamps sound on vocals? good latency?
