How do you exaclty DJ with 5?
How exaclty can you DJ with 5? Is there any detailed information about it I can read? I am using Mixmiester right now. Also can you apply the effects to a certain point in the track ( MP3s) and the effects will be recorded when you burn your CD. For example I want to use the filter on a vocal line for 3 seconds.
Re: How do you exaclty DJ with 5?
Throw tracks in session window (chop up into sections if you feel like doing some on-the-spot remixing), make liberal use of crossfader, add fx and Beastie Boys a capellas to taste. Like my TV friend Emeril says: Bam!DjRedd wrote:How exaclty can you DJ with 5?
I don't know about detailed, but there is a heck of a lot on this forum. Check out the tutorials, like these ones, read the most excellent manual to get familiarized with everything, and use the most excellent search function on this site, this place is full of tips in this regard AND all other tips can be adapted for your purposes. Everyone uses Live differently, you'll discover that very quickly, and you'll be no exception - just hang here and learn from some of the best guys you'll find in an user group. Is there any detailed information about it I can read?
Regardless, since you have Live 5, throw a few WAVs or MP3s in the session window, assign your crossfader sides, and have some fun. Trial and error is sometimes the best way to learn (I just discovered you can drag a clip from the arrange window to the session window - what a time saver! Why didn't I discover that sooner?!).
Sure, and it's f'ing amazing. You can automate effects using clip envelopes, you can also muck about with sample offsets, transposition, panning and volume. Also can you apply the effects to a certain point in the track ( MP3s) and the effects will be recorded when you burn your CD. For example I want to use the filter on a vocal line for 3 seconds.
Trial & error is the besy way.. & of course LOTS & LOTS of Reading! I started using live with your same question. So i joined the forum here, bought a book "Ableton Live 4 Power" Although it's for version 4, it's basically the same. After reading through the entire book (400 or so) pages.. I started to mess around with tracks, warping ( finally got the hang of it). But all the long hours of reading & asking questions here, I don't regret any of it. Live is so powerful. You just have to experience it on your own. Ask lots of questions.. (that is after you read the manuals).. lol good luck
