Apc40 vs Launchpad S + Launch Control?

This combo is great, and it's so close to perfect it hurts...but if I can't find a way to do this I'm returning both and waiting for the APC40 MK2.

I have the launchpad mkii and I was seriously going to trade it for the APC 40MK2 until I thought about trading my 8x8 grid of big pads on the Launchpad, for a 5x8 grid of Skinny pads on APC40mkii. Those extra 3 rows of pads were the dealbreaker. So I bought the Launch control XL instead. Smaller, cheaper and I can keep my launchpad.

Perfect except for the step-thru Red Box session functionality.

However, after watching the video on this, I'm not sure if it includes the ability to skip through the blocks of session grids. Mostly it is about device parameters. That should be simple, seeing as how the script already exists in the Launchpad itself.
I am looking to see if he has a contact address so I can ask him.

talking to myself here...although I compose music w/Ableton, there are many things I don't understand, such as the intricacies of MIDI CCs & channels. It seems to me that if I could get Launchpad & LCXL on the same MIDI channel, I should be able to get LCXL to follow along with session view/red box jump.
there is also supposed to be a MIDI CC "bank change". This should correspond to the 8-grid jump. I wonder how I could set this up.

In those videos about setting up these devices, nobody talks much about MIDI channels & ports. Is it so simple they don't even need to mention it? I feel like I missed Elementary school.

Hi, MIDI has nothing to do with the Ring Focus Box functionality, this is handled by python at a control surface level, it's possible to link them together using MaxforLive, i believe i've already replied to the email you sent?

Bank Change is for MIDI parameter control, again unfortunately nothing to do with the Ring Focus box....

LaunchSync is what you need to bring them all together... In addition you can lock the LaunchControl XL to the Parameters element of LaunchSync and then dynamically map the 24 pots to follow the tracks that you are working on.
