Aarghh!!! I just Can't Resolve My Lag Issues - Edit - SOLVED

Post by Myattmode » Fri Nov 03, 2017 9:17 pm

Hello all,

I know this won't be a new topic but I've spent a lot of time trawling the internet to find a solution to a lag issue I have in Live 9 Suite 64 Bit.

I am pleading for somebody to have an answer to this!! :)

Here is a current example: I am running a project that has NI plugins, Synthmaster, Neutron 2, Ozone 8 and the usual assortment of effects like Valhalla for example. This all runs in circa the 65% CPU range which is certainly not pushing it.

Two real noticeable issues: With the metronome turned on; when I press play the metronome starts then after a short delay the music starts and the metronome is out of sync with the track. When I press stop there is a short delay before it responds to stop. The second one is the common issue where I press a key on my Kontrol S61 and the note is heard after a delay. Both of these are extremely frustrating to say the least and is seriously affecting my workflow.

I have frozen & flatten tracks, removed unnecessary plugins, played with buffer sizes, ticked & un-ticked various options in the menus, altered performance settings in Windows 10, so on and so on. I am running all the latest drivers and my SATA's are on the full 6gb settings.

Can anybody help me with this as I've run out of ideas/options. Below is my system spec:

Intel i5-7600 CPU @ 3.50Ghz on a Gigabyte Z270X-Ultra Game MB
GeForce GTX1050 Ti Graphics Card
2 x 8gb DDR4 RAM
Samsung 850 EVO SSD with the guts of the programs on it. The libraries are on a 2TB SATA HD
Focusrite Scarlett 2i4 2nd Gen
Komplete Kontrol S61

Any help to resolve this is greatly appreciated and currently I don't feel confident in upgrading to Live 10 if this issue was still to persist.

Cheers

Try remove Ozone especially if you have a number of instances. Im still on Ozone 6 but it has always introduced a huge delay. I never enable/add it until I am finished with the production and move to mixing.

Wow! - I have learnt something there and thank you jestermgee 8O

I deleted Ozone 8 only from my Master bus and the problem is solved. What I have learnt in particular is that even though I had it 'switched off' it still placed a drain on the process. As you've pointed out I will leave this omitted until the mixing process.

BTW. I owned Ozone 7 and upgraded to Ozone 8 with 'Tonal Balance'. The difference is astounding between the two so I can imagine going from O6 to O8 even more so. Finally, the Tonal Balance tool is one of the most useful plugins I now own from the mixing/mastering process point of view - extremely useful.

Many thanks again for solving this issue :D

Yeah I believe it reserves a buffer for its process so even when it's off, it still creates a delay so you don't get a glitch when you switch it on.

Just a minor update to this now I've played a bit more due to the shear excitement. I was running O8 in Bypass mode to toggle on/off when required so deleting the plugin solved the problem.

I have revisited it and by just simply deactivating the plugin this has also resolved this issue so there is no reason now to delete it.

Such a simple solution but you live and learn...

Many thanks again :)
