Kick Drum Trigger triggering automated note changes

What would you recommend the best way to have a kick drum trigger automated note (chord) changes?

I was my kick trigger to trigger 808/bass synths and change to the appropriate note at the appropriate time in the song.

Example: 2 chord song progression (C,G) changing every measure. While in measure one, C is triggered, once in measure two it triggers a G, etc.

.. and then use MIDI learn (ctrl/cmd-M) to make the MIDI event (of your kick drum) trigger the next scene.
