Ableton live Arpeggiator sync problem

Hello guys,

I built an instrument rack and I noticed that the arp within the rack doesnt play in sync when played live. I tried writing in the noted and it works fine. But I am planning to use this in a live performance.

Ive searched around the forum for the problem I have but everything is open ended. I found a solution but its for ableton live 8 (im running 9) Its going about the option.txt files. The thing about that is I can no longer see ableton in the preferences of my library. I dont think its the same in live 9 if I am wrong please enlighten me.

PLEASE HELP this is really frustrating me. I need to finish this arrangement asap. TIA

So what's in the rack? What devices are causing latency and how much? In my tests the arps are playing in time, so it's some kind of interaction problem.

How are we supposed to know what Live 8 solution you are talking about? I have no idea what the bold part of your quote above means.

The instrument rack contains

1. An electric plugin
2. Operator (with the arp plugin)

I also tested it with just using the arp itself and it seems to go out of time as well. It feels like latency or some sort. It does not play right after I press a not on my midi keyboard/Push 2


As for how much. I cant put a number on it but its enough to be noticed and to stop you from playing. With the arp on the instrument rack I can clearly hear that the electric plugin (without the arp plug in) plays in time but the "arped" one does not.

And this is the built-in MIDI Effect tool Arp, not the Max For Live device "Arp", correct? I think there is a problem with the latter.

I actually tried both. The problem is more prominent in the m4l arp. As of now Im just using cthulhu and not having problems. Its just a bummer that live's own plugin is the one having a problem.

This is quite strange I think. If there was a problem with delay compensation and sync Chtulhu should also be affected. Assuming Chtulhu is synced to Live? If you're willing to share the rack I'm willing to investigate it on my machine.

Just an update I think theres is a bug with max4live essential arp..

I tried the same thing with a tricky trap arp and there was no problem at all
