Post by MikeT » Mon Sep 19, 2005 2:27 am

how do I record the guru beats in live? I'm using the vst plugin of guru in live and it will not record in my midi track in session view. Info not available in manual.

Thanks

you have to record audio in an audio track
and you can set the audio track to receive the signal from the midi track

oh yeah RTFM chapter 14 pg 137

Oops. Thanks anyway. I found that I can drag and drop the midi patterns directly in live.

Really, I didn't know about drag & drop.

I've been using midi clips as pattern triggers. C-1 = pattern 1, C#-1 = pattern 2...etc. Only problem is that there is currently a bug when using it this way. The patterns will only respond to the note off msg of the clip if that engine is selected in the GUI of Guru. I made a bug report to Angus already. Hopefully it's fixed in the next update.

I will have to try drag & drop and have Live send the notes to Guru, instead of using Guru's internal midi and just triggering the pattern changes with clips.

How do you disable Gurus internal engine? I get flamming as it is playing both the internal pattern and the midi file from Live.

Make sure your patterns are in shot or gate mode to keep them off until the clip is fired.

In sync or trigger mode, your patterns will play continuously regarless of whether you send midi to GURU. I haven't found much use for these two except when using it standalone.

Mike,
Can you outline exactly how you drag and drop Guru midi patterns to Live?
It would be appreciated.

Drag the highlighted pattern key from guru to an empty clip slot in Live. Go to Kvraudio.com forum and go to guru in live 5 topic, to get more info.
