Workflow question: how do you save cool loops directly from

Post by EMC_Square » Sun Nov 19, 2017 2:16 am

Ola,

I usually work in the arrangement window. Often I collect more samples and loops that I ultimately use in my tracks. Hence, at the end I often delete snippets from the arrangement. However, I would like to save them for future projects. What is the quickest way to do that?

So far, I drag and drop the samples directly from the arrangement view into my personalised folder structure. The annoying part is that ableton automatically converts the samples into folders (including a subfolder with samples and a clip file). This is annoying because I can't quickly preview those folders and I can't simply drag and drop them into arrangements. It would be much easier if ableton simply saves/moves the sample as wav files into my folder structure.

How do you guys do that?

Cheers
Phil

You're probably not dragging the samples into your personal folder, but the clips containing those samples (hence the extra conversion stuff).

Check "current project", under "places" in the project browser. You should then see a folder named "samples", in the window besides it. Fold it open. You can then drag the desired samples to your "snippet archive": drag them on top of the snippet folder (add it under "places" if you haven't), the folder then opens in the window besides it (where you were dragging the sample from) and you can drop it there.

Hope that makes any sense. :)
