Midi Input Delay (More than the basics)

Post by AdamShorts » Wed Dec 27, 2017 12:51 pm

Hello hello!

Right down to brass tax. I use an AKAI MPK mini as my DAW through Ableton Live 9 Intro and it suffers from input latency.

My computer is a windows 10 i5 6600k with 32 GB of ram.

I've tried ticking and unticking 'Delay Compensation' / 'Reduced Latency when Monitoring'. I've brought the sample rate down as far as it can go including the output buffer size and then the drive error compensation. Though latency is indeed better its still off and now barely audible. As you can imagine, not great conditions to record in.

I've used testing sources like MIDI-OX to see if it was my MIDI's fault but it's reactions were spot on.

I've gone to the help desk at AKAI but there isn't anymore they can do other than talk about the software itself.

The delay is even in my regular computer keyboard trying to use that instead of the AKAI.

In short, please help. Ableton is lagging any input I use and its hampering productivity severely.

So, nobody at that help desk said something about your sound card?

Because that's what causing the latency. It's audio-related, not midi.

(And your MPK only does midi, not audio)

Could it be that you're using the on-board sound card of your computer?
If so, a real ;) one should fix your problems.
