Midi Out Port 2 no Transmission of Data to Syntheszier

Hi!

I am using a Miditech MIDIface 4x4.
I select an external Instrument - I use a jv1010 for Testing. Well: On Midi-Out-Port 1 all works fine. Midi-Data is received by the JV.
But when I use Midi-Out-Port2 no Midi-Data is transmitted from the Miditech MIDIface 4x4 to the synth. All is setup to midi-Channel 1.



The Midiface works fine I guess. Cause I have the same Problem with the novation Zero SL Mk2 Port 2. Something on the setup seems to be wrong but I can`t figure out what this could be.

Your screenshot doesn't contain a midi-track. Isn't that what you want, to send events to your external gear?

I'd say, add a midi track to your project (ctrl/cmd-shift-T), and from there you should be able to select port 2 from the output-options (click on "No Output").

(The audio, then, is a different story, your MIDIface only does midi. )


edit: I don't have any experience with the "external instrument-instrument" in Live, so I could be totally off here..

That looks like it should work to me. Sticking an External Instrument device on a midi track like the OP has done makes it look like an audio track. He has his 2nd midi port selected in the External Instrument and it appears he has it configured correctly in Preferences as the 2nd midi port is recognised and On.

Stupid question. You say you've tested it using MIDI 1 OUT to the JV 1010. Have you actually physically moved the MIDI cable from the MIDI OUT 1 to the MIDI OUT 2 on the interface? ie have you actually got a physical connection between that port and the JV 1010? Or is MIDI 1 OUT still connected to the MIDI IN of the JV 1010?

To add to cskracer's comment, be sure to test the connection using the same MIDI cable (that worked) for both channels. If you are using two MIDI cables, the second one could be a bad MIDI cable.
