Apollo Twin Quad MK2 Thunderbolt

Post by SMRhythm » Tue Mar 27, 2018 2:47 pm

Does anyone know if this can run on Windows 10 with a Thunderbolt to USB adapter? I currently run it on a Macbook pro but thinking of getting a powerful Win 10 PC to run ableton on as is cheaper to build Win 10 one than get an apple Mac of equivalent power.

I know there is a USB Apollo as well but i have already invested in the Thunderbolt one.

I'd ask over on the UAD Forum, will probably need to know what MB you plan to use in your build. And hopefully you mean a USB-C (TB3) port as I do not think that it's possible to use TB with the other USB protocols. There does seem to be an issue with the Apple USB-C to TB2 adaptor on PC systems (works fine on Mac, can confirm) so keep that in mind. Also, I'm fairly certain that you will need to use a MB that has either USB-C or TB2 native on the board, I seem to recall issues with pci cards with TB not working (could be mistaken...).

There are Windows PCs with Thunderbolt. Why not go for them?

Go to the computer store with your Apollo and connect it there, if it works, buy that.
