Monitoring click track on stage w/ mixer

Post by reynolds101 » Thu Apr 12, 2018 12:44 am

Hello all,

I have a question regarding the use of a click track on stage. I am using a Behringer Xenyx X2222USB mixer for the output, and I would like to have backing sounds going to the mains and a click track to the drummer. Using the Ext. out for the mixer in Live only lists channels 1 and 2 (L/R). I am wondering if it is possible to have both the PA playing the sounds (in stereo) and an output solely for the metronome->drummer. If anyone can help me out with this that'd be awesome. The mixer is shown below.

Thanks!

A couple things:

First off, look into your documentation for the mixer/audio card, it might be 4 out. At the very least check in Live's Preferences under Audio, then Output Configuration.

If you only have 2 outs and happen to be on OSX you still should be able to use the headphone outs to send a click track to your drummer. Just read up on aggregate audio devices in OSX etc.
Windows I would bet it's also possible, but would require probably third party programs etc.

Also, any decent mixer has a sub out, that can be set up to the headphone out on the mixer, so a click can be fed to the headphones on the mixer but not the front of house.
So I can't imagine the mixer is less than 4 out, check Live's preferences.

[edit] A quick look at the specs on the mixer says it has 4 outs, RTFM! :x

I have read the manual, thanks. Live only shows 2 channels in output config. when connected to the mixer.

Bump. I know another interface with more outputs would work. I'm still having trouble setting this up with this mixer but I feel like it is possible.

i had a quick squizz at the manual for you. it says that the USB connection supports stereo in/out, which would explain why you only see two output channels in Live...
