i design software for a living in the broadcast sector.

we always have those sorts of ideas here at the office.
"would be cool to have this app on the pocket pc!"
"would be great if i could run this from my sony ericsson phone!"
"would be super super if i could do a video edit from the train on my pocket pc!"

etc etc

Then one day......one of us actually went ahead and converted one of these 'great/cool' ideas into a pilot product. Even burned his entire week-end (bless him) to do this and come back Monday all smiley.

It worked. And yes, it was 'cool'. But only from a geeky point of view!

Cause on a practical aspect, it was pretty much useless! It gets the "Woah!!!" but it doesn't get anyone actually using it everyday!

Ableton on a pocket pc? You realise the space problem? Navigation issues? Clips/Track properties etc?

Maybe ...MIDI controlling Ableton from a pocket pc. Okay there could be something there. Just maybe.

Size does matter!

of course it would not be a program that can be matched with live 5.
for me it should be a tool that can be used as an pocket composer but without the boring limitations of the gadgets/program i've tried. like the yamaha qys & griff for pocket pcs.
just a simple but very effective tool to layer loops & warp & some effects.
you sketch your songs in the train/plane/car/bus/ship/space shuttle and then import it into live 5 to make it work.

12" iBook/Powerbook. Or some of the pretty tiny PC laptops out there.

exactly!!

'simple' never meant 'doesn't need screen space'

people are using gameboys for music.
so why not use a ppc?
anyway they won't do it because of various difficulties. no floating point, not enough ram, slow processors etc.
