Missing files
Ok, I have just about had it. I am a thread away from pulling the plug on ableton forever. I have spent $800 over the past year, and yet it is vurtually impossible for me to make music.
Over ten times in the past year, ableton will just "lose" my files. I guess it just forgets where they are. I will search for the folder, find the folder, have ableton find 70+ candidates, and it won't replace any of them. Do I really have to manually find every single one of my god damned fucking sounds manually every month in order to use ableton? Is this what ableton intended? Is there a way around this? Cause I am fucking god damned sick of spending hours trying to find my fucking sounds. I spend more time trying to get this fucking program to work than I do making music.

Re: Missing files
When you save, what's your process? I'm curious because I haven't even saved anything yet. I'm thinking I'd like to put a folder on my desktop and have that be where I save everything.
Re: Missing files
Are you doing a fucking Collect All and Save when you fucking save your fucking projects?

Re: Missing files
I have a custom folder one onedrive that I save everything to. It's kept locally and one the cloud. I decided to use onedrive because I lost all my music when my hard drive died, but now I'm losing my music constantly anyways. There seems to be no real way to not lose your music regularly. How do professionals do it?
@tarekith ......no......will that help? I've never heard of it till now

Re: Missing files
Thanks Tarekith, I'll try that out. If that's the fix then it sucks I haven't heard about it till now.
Re: Missing files
It collects all the samples you used in the song into the project folder for that song. As long as you never delete them from your project folder Live will always find them no matter what you do with your User Library.

Lol....
Not sure why people get so worked up when they have a LOT to learn about the basics of the software.
Perhaps schedule a few nights to sit and read the manual... I know it's not cool these days for kids to be reading but it can prevent you getting so frustrated over the fact you do not understand what you are working with.

Re: Missing files
That's precisely how I wanted it to sound, but the social filter I have had forced on me for 3.5 decades of living with people on this planet doesn't let that come out in public places.H20nly wrote:fixed for emphasis/millennial phrasingthat old timer jestermgee shoulda wrote:Perhaps schedule a few fucking nights to sit and read the fucking manual...
