Triggering clips latency

Post by Bungalowhulk » Sun Jul 08, 2018 1:17 pm

Hello everyone, I was hoping to trigger clips with quantisation set to: None. Unfortunately there is considerable latency compared to using the notes mode. It seems worst with my Push 1, slightly better with Launchpad and much better when using my computer keyboard.

Is this normal? Since quantisation can be turned off, I would have expected very responsive, playable clip launching.

Thanks for your input!

Well, if you have any latency in your set, that will still be there. Look over your devices and plug-ins to see if removing any of those with non-zero latency improves playability.

Also:

- What is your OS?
- What is your audio interface?

If you are on Windows and using the Direct Audio output (not ASIO) then you will have mega latency in everything you do.

Hello, thanks for the replies.

I'm on a Mac, my output latency is 3.6ms and when using the Push to play in note mode there is no noticeable latency. The issue is only when trying to launch clips with quantization turned off, there is a small delay from pressing the pad to the clip actually playing.

Do you get the same responsiveness launching clips as you get when using note mode? If so it must be an issue with my setup.

Incase it isn't clear what I'm talking about, here is a set with 3 clips on 3 midi tracks. They are all addressing the drum rack on track 1. When I map my computer keyboard to these clips, I can play a beat perfectly in time, no problem. When trying the same from my Push, it seems impossible and unresponsive. Am I the only one experiencing this?
