CAF vs WAV

CAF(Apple Core Audio Format) is developed by Apple and widely used in Apple software and devices. CAF file usually uses AAC, ALAC, MP3 and other codec to compress audio.

WAV is a simple audio format developed by Microsoft. This format usually uses uncompressed PCM codec to store audio data. This format is supported by nearly any audio software and devices.

I think not, but I use AIFF out of habit on the Mac platform. Software support for where you may want to use your files may be relevant.
The support for metadata seems better for AIFF than Wav, but there is some I believe also for Wav and this may not be relevant to you either. I largely view these two as exchangeable. There are at least one 64bit extension to Wav (this is not supported by Live according to the linked post).
