Hi all,
For a generative music project, I would like to combine the individual parts of the MIDI information from different sources to generate evolving chords and bass lines. I can't seem to figure out how to combine MIDI info from different sources and send them to one track/instrument. Ex:
* Note values might come from a pre-programmed clip to ensure the desired chord progressions,
* On/off and velocity might come from a step sequencer to generate random poly-rhythms.
or
* Note values could come from arp effect or M4L device,
* On/off and velocity could come from MIDI keyboard input.
I'm primarily interested in a native Ableton Live solutions, but would be happy with a (preferably included - i.e. supported) Max for Live device that could do the same. I've considered creating my own M4L device, but would rather not re-invent the wheel - seems like a simple enough requirement that it should already exist.
Sorry if this is a newbie question, but I can't seem to find the answer here in the forum, or by Googling... it seems my search terms are just too generic. If you can suggest specific keywords I should be searching for that would be appreciated as well.
