Resolution to Live Performance and Sustain Pedal Problems

Post by k_sacto » Sun Sep 09, 2018 5:05 am

I am a total newbie to Ableton, and new to the world of midi-controllers and virtual instruments. I have experienced every kind of problem you can have with the idea of using a sustain pedal and live performance. I got through the pedal being reversed, not sure how, but I just kept fiddling with it. Then came the problem of trying to switch instrument patches and the sustain continuing on and on when I made the switch using buttons on the midi-controller. Then once I found a solution to that problem, it was this awful problem of a sudden switch in instruments where you really want the last sound to sustain before switching to the other - was just abrupt. Also, not so great. I found a way to use a slider on the controller to make a smooth transition and since I had spent so time figuring this all out, I thought I would share it with you. I created a document instead of a training video, just faster for me and for you. Here it is if you are interested:
