in 501, if you click on a clip in session view and press the TAB key, you can drop the clip in the arrangement view.
in 502b6, if you do that, you don't get the "ghost" clip in arrangement (and therefore can't drop it) unless you make it appear first in session by moving the mouse.

you are right, the behavior is changed. This was a part of the bug fix / improvement to make "Select On Launch" of a clip also available for MIDI and KEY remote.
But I see the point, that the old behavior was a bit easier, almost on a Notebook when using a touch pad instead of a mouse. I'll put it on the list but cannot say whether we will change this.
