Hi,
I'm looking for a way to use a numpad on a dedicated keyboard for shotcuts (copy, cut, paste) and for the transport controls (play, stop).
I'm on macos, so my first thought was to simply reprogram lives shortcuts. So 1 should be "cut" and 2 "past" for example. But that doesnt work because with live you can not use numbers as shortcuts, so it has to be like alt+1 or comand+1. Therefore its going to be more complicated.
Has anyone any idea how this could work?
It would be extremely comfortable to use a cheap numpad as a controller.
any suggestions?

Re: Using numpad for transport controls and shortcuts
Bomes Midi Translator is for this kind of thing which I use for exactly this purpose (among many) to map user buttons on my MCU to Copy/Paste/Duplicate/SaveAs and many other functions
https://www.bome.com/products/miditranslator
Supports Mac and PC and would be the best option for anything MIDI to MIDI/Keyboard/Mouse/Program conversion
Keep in mind tho, it costs money (worth it) and has a bit of a learning curve if you are not real technically minded plus it has to be running for it to do anything. I use a simple script I use to launch Bome, check my controllers are connected and then launch Live so I don't have to remember to load Bome first

Re: Using numpad for transport controls and shortcuts
thank you jestergee for the suggestion. I know Bomes Midi Translator from a DIY keyboard footpedal project I did some years ago. I want to avoid to convert the numpad in midi. Therefore i was looking for something different.
For those who are interested, here is my perfect working solution for macos:
keyboard > shortcuts on mac os system preferences to change the shortcuts in ableton live
bettertouchtool: converts single keys in shortcuts
karabiner: opensource app, helps to customize the keyboard, this is helpful if you want to change the shortcurt for play/stop (space).
