version 4.0.4 intermittent rendering in sx3
version 4.0.4 intermittent rendering in sx3
Hi All.
I'm having major headaches here........ Whenever I try to render anything done with live v4.0.4 with cubase sx 3 the results are intermittent...... I've tried every avenue i can think of, but alas to no avail.......... Can anybody help mejavascript:emoticon(':?')
Confused

Hi chitlun,
the ReWire protocol does not contain information if the audio data pressing is done in real-time (normal playing) or not real-time (rendering, bouncing).
So when Live runs as ReWire slave it behaves like all data is processed in real-time. This again can lead to problem when you do a not-real-time operation in the ReWire host (like Rendering in Cubase SX in your case).
So the safest workaround would be to record your mix in real time in Cubase SX.

Alex

I have the exact same problem with SX2chitlun wrote:Hi Alex.
The problem is arising when I'm running live as a rewire slave. When I come to do a mixdown the audio from live is intermittent. This seems only to have come about since I upgraded to SX 3. This as you can imagine is a problem for the final mix.

so why does SX export work with reason as slave for instance ?

Hi Chris J,
But however, in Live when you use "Render to Disk" it handles the reading of audio files different as when normal playing in real-time. This should guarantee that all needed audio data is read timely enough. So without this information it can happen that some audio files are not read timely enough .
So the question is, does activating the "real-time" check box in the "Audio mixdown" dialog of Cubase SX solve this problem or not.
Maybe Propellerheads had a different (or maybe better) mechanism so that they do not need to separate between real-time and not real-time processing, I simply do not know.

Alex
I do not know if it always works with Reason. Maybe because a typical Reason song does contain much less audio files (unless you use a Sampler instances there) as a typical Live set.so why does SX export work with reason as slave for instance ?

I'll try but even if it does that won't be much helpful as i never export in real time as I always have a lot of processing to be calculated
EDIT : I got confused here, for some reason I thought real time was going faster.
