Sending pitch bend data when it shouldn't be is unfortunately almost always a sign that the keyboard's hardware has become faulty. What can be done about that at a hardware level depends on the controller. It might be possible to disable pitch bend in the controller's own settings and deal with the problem that way.

If not, on some controllers the pitch wheel can be disconnected to stop it sending any data, but on others that won't work. The problem usually means the potentiometer that senses where the wheel is no longer functions correctly, or the wheel's return spring no longer correctly centres the wheel/stick or something has gone wrong on the digital side of things.

On the software side of things, one option is to go into the paramaters of every synth/sampler patch you use and set the MIDI pitch bend response to zero. So although Live will still record the pith bend data the synths won't change pitch in response to it. The pitch envelopes the data creates can then be deleted so Live isn't using resources to process them.

Another is to filter out the pitch bend information before it reaches Live. I think either MidiOx or Bome's MIDI Translator might be able to do this on Windows but it's been a couple of years since I had a Windows PC and can't remember for certain.

I can't find any recent Mac application that can do the filtering, though others might know of one.

If you have Max then searching http://www.maxforlive.com/index.php for "MIDI filter" turns up some devices that might be useful for removing the pitch bend data from the MIDI stream.

To be honest, the best option might well be to replace the controller.

Thank you, I guess I'll have to buy myself a new keyboard this Christmas. Filtering doesn't seem to always stop it and I can't fix the keyboard via hardware, also it's old enough to begin with, so I think I'll just buy myself a new one if I can get the money for it. But still, thank you for helping me with this issue, it is greatly appreciated :)

Just had an idea that might work....

If you can hold the wheel in a position where it isn’t sending data then you could try firmly taping it down in that spot so it can’t move. Not ideal of course because you’d lose the use of pitch bend....

Looking back, most of the times I’ve replaced a controller keyboard is because either the pitch or mod wheel/sticks started misbehaving. I’m currently using an Arturia Keystep which has touch strips instead of wheels, it’ll be interesting to see how long that lasts.
