Integrated A/B'ing

Post by disaiple » Thu Feb 21, 2019 7:29 am

A great feature would be easier/integrated A/B'ing.

For example, EQ, make crazy or subtle curve changes etc., then use a "snapshot" function built into the EQ. The first snapshot would save your current settings and the second one would save your changed settings, then maybe there is another button for the actual A/B'ing process.

Perhaps this could even scale to instrument or effect racks as well, for easier A/B'ing of changes to effects chains or maybe even whole groups of tracks to A/B entire mixes with a single button. Maybe this could even save more than just an 'A' and 'B', maybe also have 'C' and 'D' to test out a few different methods.

Currently the only way I know to do this is either ctrl+z your way back or copy your device, make changes and then set a keybind to swap between your A and B device. This can also be done with all of the above mentioned elements but can be slightly more complicated depending on what all you want to A/B. If there is a better way or if this is already implemented with the beta then please let me know or disregard.

This is a standard feature of ClyphX Pro called Snaps....

You can even assign a Snap to a Macro dial and merge into it from the current state for complete control...

Interesting link, I had no idea there were dedicated users or teams that made mods like this. Funny you mention the macro assigning to "keyframe" between the snapshots, that idea came to me on my drive to work this morning. Obviously would like this to be native to live though, here's to hoping.
