Audio effects with External Instrument

Hi,

I have made a drum rack using external instruments to route to a VST. I want to apply audio effects to the chains in the drum rack but they do not work. I think this is because they are after the external instrument, I think I might need to do some routing here but I'm out of my depth. Is it possible to apply audio effects using the external instrument?

I think you can do this, but it’s dependent on how your external instruments and interface are set up.

Technically, you can assign each cell in the drum rack to an audio track, and then add effects to them that way. That’s usually what I do anyways.
