Routing Audio tacks and Recording Video

hi there

I have a Live Set with a few audio tracks....two of these are hooked up to external Synths and are fine. The others are playing internal Sample drums....basically just audio wavs...

If I record a video using something like QuickPlayer it will record the synths but not the drums...i.e. the internal samples. I'm guessing this is because those tracks are not routed through the audio interface which QuickPlayer is using for its input.

So I think the question is, how do I route those kind of tracks so they go to the audio interface and so will be picked up by QP?

I have a scarlett focusrite and Scarlett Mix Control but I've no idea how to use the routing to do this....or even whether it can be done!?

Any pointers?

I don't know much about Quick Time player but can't you just record the Ableton Window or use another screen recorder like OBS?

I don’t have a focusrite interface so can’t give a step-by-step answer, but in general you need to point Live’s master output at the interface.

You then need to set up the interface’s internal mixer to do a “loop-back” so it feeds the output from Live back into whatever inputs Quicktime is using. This is usually done in an interface’s internal mixer using it’s controlling software.

Personally I’d record the synths into Live first, create a stereo mix then use that as a single stereo audio source. That would make things simpler.

I don't think I can loop back the output back into Ableton Live. It seems the Sapphire version of the scarlett has this feature but mine doesn't .

I think I will just create a mix in Ableton and then replace the video audio with an export of the mix..
