A small webapp with all ableton youtube videos in one place

Post by carlodemarchis » Sun Sep 01, 2019 1:37 pm

Hi All,
As I am learning Live 10.1 I did, just for fun a small webapp to have easy access to all Ableton YT videos (learn and more)
Have a look and let me know if useful

Is it just pulling the videos from the Ableton website or curated youtube videos too?

I'm guessing it's required to have a tiny virtual phone display instead of detailed full screen as it is "emulating" a phone app? Not something I tend to like to use on a computer outside developing.

Compared to how it is laid out on the Live site it's not as intuitive to navigate. For instance, the Live website has dedicated sections for each category with full screen layouts. Your app displays a long list alphabetically without any filters so trying to skim read for key details in a tiny display isn't easy to do, additionally it shows only 2 video results at a time where a full computer screen can show 20+ results at a time to make it much faster to find a video, hence why productivity is much better on a computer than on a phone screen.

Ideally it would be built to take advantage of responsive displays and also connect to different video sources (youtube, vimeo etc) and dynamically display videos with categories but that is a bit more work.

Thanks for the suggestions
I know categories are cool, maybe also the level of users knowledge could be a way to navigate videos
I use a no-code platform so there are some limits
It took me 2 hours to produce the webapp
I will see what can be done with not too much work
