Blurry Text in UI on Windows 10

Post by policarpo » Thu Jul 07, 2016 11:30 pm

I was wondering if anyone had a solution for the blurry text i see in the UI on Windows 10. I had hoped it would've been fixed by the latest update. I've tried the trick of disabling High DPI rendering on the app, but it results in super small windows for Plug-Ins and the app preferences window. It's weird, but I don't see this kind of bug in Bitwig on Windows. I'd really love to use Live on my SP3, but the blurry text just aggravates me. Much appreciated in advance for any insight into fixing this issue.

I know I am probably beating a dead horse on this subject. It looks like there is no complete solution.

The Rescaling to 100% in Display Settings doesn't work.
Turning off Rendering High DPI in the Apps Properties doesn't work.

The above 2 fixes only fixes the rendering problem in Live's main UI. Your VST and Preference pains in Live look too small when you do either of the items above.

I don't understand why things render properly in Bitwig on Windows, and render properly in Live on retina MacBooks.

Guess Windows will get support for proper font rendering at some point in time... :(

it's not windows, it's ableton. The Program is still not highDPI capable/aware (what the OSX guys call "retina support"). I'm suffering under it as well, because one 4K screen and another with just FHD. Means when I scale from within Live (turning off windows scaling to help with blurry text): Plugins are still really realy fucking tiny on the 4k monitor (especially Waves) PLUS everything is WAY too big on the 2nd screen.
Ableton should really do something about this, especially with the amount of highDPI convertibles

This was the first thing that struck me when I opened this app up on Windows 10 vs. running it in a Mac. Things like this are what made me shy away from Windows for all these years, like how do all these Windows users put up with such an awful UI? Guess because they're used to it? Stuff like this makes macOS so much better in my opinion.

So you necrod a thread which hadn't had a reply in 2 years, where it wasn't windows' problem but Live's (or in some cases the devs of the plugins) and even that has been fixed for ages, so post complete bs. Either trolling or allergic against facts?

Well, it looks like no one has replied on this topic for a while.
In that case I'm wondering if I'm the only one still having this horrible blurry text in the Ableton Live UI?
Or have I missed a setting in Ableton or Windows to make it better?

Trying another computer or playing around with the Windows screen resolution doesn't do much (or een makes it worse).

I came from Reaper, but my new Novation MIDI controller came bundled with Ableton so wanted to give it a go since it has a tight integration.
But seeing this blurry fuzzy text in the whole UI (except for the menu bar on top) makes it pretty much unusable.

Which is really unfortunate, since I really think this combination of Novation and Ableton should speed up my productivity, but for now is giving me headaches :S

Help would be really appreciated.
