I'm not seeing what I'm hearing
I'm not seeing what I'm hearing
On OSX (Panther 10.3.9 - dual g5 2.5) the sound I'm hearing is late compared to what I am seeing in the tracks.
Delay compensation is on. The latency is adjusted properly for recording. I don't have this problem when running... (unmentionable program):o
Can't we have the screen late as well - to match the sound. As is, it makes it nearly impossible to do certain kinds of editing that is syncopated. Please some smart person, who knows how to spell syncopated, and proper grammar, tell me there is a setting I've missed.
peace out

I totally agree with you. I made this post http://www.ableton.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=26118 before but didn't really get any feedback. I have the feeling it would not be so hard technically! Also some automation (like fx send) seems to be offset by about two beats and doesn't seems to fit right into delay compensation. anyway, pdc does not seem to be perfect yet. And the delay on return tracks is really annoying if you wanna bounce it to another audio track...
i'm complaining, but i love Live, that's why! Just want it to be flawless!
I'm glad someone is mentioning about this!!
Cheers!

Hi folks,
firstly this issue is not directly related to PDC. It behaves the same in all previous version of Live but with PDC it could be easier to see it.
Getting the level meter in sync with the audio output would at least mean to delay them about the audio output latency. This again would also increase the CPU usage and beside the time needed to implement this it was the main reason why it is not Live 5.
Maybe it will come in a future version.
However it is more a feature wish so you should vote for it in the wishlist forum.
regards,
Alex

I can't "believe" what I'm seeing
Hi Alex,
I think that's a different issue. We are talking about the audio moving across the tracks that are scrolling. The timeline playback marker is ahead of the sound.
There is synchronization, but it is ahead of the audio that you hear. Couldn't the marker just run where the audio is happening when you hear it?

And how about the latency on return tracks? It makes precise automation of fx send look like a joke compared with Live 4, like two beats offset... Of course, the solution is to create two more audio tracks: one (B) fed by the original track (A), which in turn feeds another track (C) with the effect. Track (B) can be automated with volume, as if it were a normal fx send. Works, but a little painful, especially if you decide to do it in the middle of a project, because you realize you're "not hearing what you see". How is it with the beta, Abledude? I'm sorry, i really don't have the time for installing and testing it. And maybe this problem is not annoying for you...
Anyway, glad you made this post man! Thanx to you and Alex!
Peace
