Hi,
So I'm new to Ableton and I'm switching from Reaper.
In Reaper I could draw a MIDI note in the MIDI editor and once I click
and drag it would change/resize the midi note as I moved the mouse and would
set the note length once I released the mouse button.
When I draw a note (arrangement view) in the piano roll in Ableton it just makes
all my notes the same length no matter how far I drag the mouse.
I can resize them after they're drawn by clicking and dragging, but this is
annoying and slows me down.
How do I do in Ableton what I did in Reaper?
Any help is appreciated!
Thanks!
Why are all my MIDI notes the same length?

Try turning off the pencil tool and using double click to draw.

If you still want to use the pencil, you can hold option/alt and drag the tail to the length you want. You can also turn the grid off though you'll lose onset quantization as well. You can also change the note length by changing the grid resolution. This can be very quick once you get used to it, though of course you're also snapping the beginning of the note to that resolution as well.
