launchpad mini mk3 track volume control

Post by masleo » Fri Nov 15, 2019 3:35 am

Is it possible to use the new launchpad mini mk3 to control track volume in Ableton Live 10? All I want to do is simply control track volume for each track for 8 channels of backing tracks. How would I do it on the launchpad mini mk3.....or did I get the wrong controller.....

Thanks,

After much trial and tribulation, here is how to make the user bank of the launchpad mini mk3 into a volume mixer for ableton live 10 in Windows 10.

1. use software "novation components" either online or downloaded. make sure check mark upper right corner is green. My downloaded version never was able to get green and I had to use the online version at components.novationmusic.com/launchpad-mini-mk3/librarian. and then sign in.
2. drag a vertical unipolar fader into each of the 8 rows to mimic faders on a mixer
3. single click on each row one at a time. make the cc number different for each. the midi channel can stay the same. color as you like.
4. save. click up arrow to "send to launch pad". launchpad should look same as computer screen. close "novation components". If you don't close, ableton may or may not be able to connect to launchpad mini.
4.5 launch ableton. unplug and replug launchpad mini if not showing box around clips/scenes on computer screen
5. in ableton, click "midi" block upper right.
6. mouse click volume fader for track 1
7. on launchpad mini, push "user" button upper right. don't forget this step
8. on launchpad mini, push several buttons of first row like you are turning a fader down.
9. do similar for each track -mouse click on fader to highlight, then push several buttons of the row you want on launchpad mini. you will know it worked if you see numbers in small box by fader
10. unclick "midi" block upper right

This only works for the file you are working on. Not universal like hardware control. Works for my use which is running backing tracks with one giant file with all the songs as scenes. If I need to adjust a single track volume during performance, I would hit "user" and use row of buttons like a fader for each of 8 tracks.

That's what worked for me. Hope it can help you too.

I have launchpad x, there it is a default layout for volume. Tap the session button, choose volume (top button right column) and I get the volume faders for the selected 8 channels. I'd expect this is the same for the mini mk 3

Launchpad mini mk3 programmers reference manual clearly states it has daw fader functionality same as Launchpad X. But there is no dedicated button on mini mk3. Ableton can enable this functionality in the future.
