Education Discount vs Normal

Post by GreatBigGiantBrain » Tue Dec 03, 2019 1:51 am

Is it normal for the Education price (before discounts, MSRP) to be 449$ usd, while the normal price is 369$?

I was looking to buy over the weekend with the 25% off deal, but remembered about the education discount of 40% off (that I qualify for), but looking at the price, it _looks_ like they jack the price up on education, then give the discount.

Example;
With 25% off this weekend, your final price is $277
With 40% education, your final price is $269

I would have thought the education final price would have been 40% of 369$? (221$).

Just curious if I'm missing something.
(and what a horrible first post!)
Thanks,
Brian

Where did that example even come from? Nothing Ableton sells costs those numbers.

Standard costs $449 full, EDU is $269

Suite costs $749 full, EDU is $449

Note that there is no Educational discount for upgrades, only for new licenses of Standard and Suite.
Example;
With 25% off this weekend, your final price is $277
With 40% education, your final price is $269
Another example that doesn't make sense. Nothing Ableton sells is $277 with 25% sale, and $269 with the Educational discount.

Standard costs $337 at the current 25% sale, not $277. Suite costs $562 at 25%.
I would have thought the education final price would have been 40% of 369$? (221$).
Educational discount doesn't stack with sales.

I guess I see what they are doing.
The first one is an Upgrade (I have the Intro version), and the education is non-upgrade.
Very confusing at first, but I guess I see it now.

Sorry for the confusion.
