Uad and live 5
Uad and live 5
When i use the uad card in live 5, most of the time i get crackles, glitches in audio.
Had it also in live 4.
I had a bit of hope that in the upgrade to 5, the problem would be fixed.
Must say that in 5 the glitches are reduced, but its not gone:(

Hi lola,
maybe this one could be interesting for you:
http://www.ableton.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=26731
- Can you use the UAD in other application without these problems?
- Does the glitches come only from tracks where the UAD is used?
- Do you get these glitches too in a small Live set with only one track and one effect from the UAD?
regards,
Alex

- Yes i use it in cubase sx with no problems at all.
- I did a test on the masterinsert in Ableton, and even there does the glitch appear.
- Did that test, and no there are no problems with just one track and a uad on that insert.
I also use a HT p4 system, maybe that could be the problem?
Too bad Live 5 does not support HT systems.
Hi lola,
not sure if I understand you right.
When you get these glitches and you bypass the UAD effect do you still hear the glitches?
Does it makes a difference when you use other plug-in buffer sizes (to setup in Live's Plug-in preferences).
Concerning HT, you might try to temporarily disable it within the BIOS to see if it would make a difference.

When i bypass the uad, the gitches are gone.
The buffer size does helpt a bit
Also wanted to add a little note on Live and uad.
When i am making a live session and use some Uad plugs in it, and i get tired of the song and open a new old song where i was working at(also with some uad plugs in it)
Well, Live 5 does not reset the old uad instances in that old song, but sums them up with the new song beeing opened.
When that happens, the Uad gives a cpu error.
And then i have to close Live 5 and open the song again wich i wanted to open in the first place.
Hope u understand my vague and poor english
Re: Uad and live 5
Ok. I used to have similiar problems with live 5 and an UAD-1 card. Even moving the mouse made a crackling sound. I didn' have the problem with cubase SX 2.2 on the same machine.lola wrote:When i use the uad card in live 5, most of the time i get crackles, glitches in audio.

Before I dropped the whole bundle from the second floor there was one thing that stopped all of the trouble....
I have a Windows XP Home machine. I switched all of the effects off in the system dialog. You can disabable all of them separate or switch them off all at once.
A link for this might be http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/usin ... ffin1.mspx
Hope it helps.

But when i installed xp, i already did the http://www.musicxp.net/ tweaks.
I just adjusted the buffersettings again, but it still keeps on glitchin and cracklin...
Damn, drive's me crazy, the uad is also in slot 2
Not to bash Ableton, but if it works okay in Cubase, but doesn't in Ableton, then it must be Ableton + Uad wich causes this trouble.
At least that's the most logical reason?
