This thread still alive? I though we had a solution. Beat Warping does not do ANYTHING to the sound! It is as transparant as a new window. (I mean compared to a non warped clip)

it's still alive because there are some arrogant cum-gulping fuck-melons who won't admit they are wrong in the face of mountains of evidence.

i give you comedic gold and you shit all over me!

oh well.

here's a joke:

a man walks into the office of a talent agent and says, "look, i've got the best act in the world, when you sign this it's gonna be in the top 5 shows you've ever had." The agent asks, "ok, ok what's the act?" The man says, "well, it's hard to explain, let me show you." Then shouts out the door to his family, "Alright, come on in here, guys!" His wife, 4 kids, parents, the family dog and a llama parade into the office. The grandfather puts a tape into a boombox and presses play......

ehhh, pearls before swine, nevermind....

preferences for imported files.

irrelevant for recorded files in all modes except complex.

as noted in conclusions of other threads on this, use repitch mode, keep tempo same, warp has no effect. (complex almost always has effect, beats may in very limited circumstances, repitch has not been shown to have any effect.)

and yes, you can turn off warp. just, um, turn off warp. and then loop by using follow actions or cutting and pasting or midi clips to retrigger things or whatever.

but no need to turn off warp if you're not changing tempo and using repitch (and if you're changing tempo you obviously need warp).

some time later. But still:

Beats can alter the Audio, even if the Tempo of the Session matches the Sample's Tempo.
I almost went insane. I play a track, that I bounced to audio within the session. So Tempos match.
When I start to play from somewhere within the sample, it is all good.
When I start to play before the beginning of the sample, it creates a click on a seemingly random position. But it is always the same position, in which the click appears. I tested it 50 times. I can rule out anything else as the source of this.

So I bounced the track, to see what happens. and there it is: random click.

I opened a thread at gearslutz one year ago. I thought it was an issue with the sample-rate, but it was really...

stupud, because the BPMs differ indeed. I got recordings for a song from multiple sessions. In some sessions the project-tempo was not adjusted to the original instrumental-BPM, while in others it was adjusted. My bad for not double-checking, sorry everyone.

Beats is neutral, I stand corrected. Cheers

https://www.gearslutz.com/board/post-pr ... peaks.html

So I turned off Warp Mode and flattened the track again. No random peak.
When I tried to recreate the peak in the sample via freeze and flatten, I failed.

But it was still there, when I resampled the original file with and without Warp on. The mode is Beats.
Have a look:

BEATS IS NOT A NEUTRAL WARP-MODE! No matter what the manual or anyone on the forum says.
Make sure to turn Warp off on your bounced tracks. Especially, if you are going to bounce them again after that.

I will try Re-Pitch now as standard Warp-Mode. If there are any issues, I will report.

Nah, 100% user error, you got the original sample's Tempo wrong.

It is extremely easy to test, all it takes is a null test.

Just put the sample with Warp Off in a Track in Arrangement, dupe the track, enable Warp Beats in the same sample in the duped track, add a instance of "Phase Invert" Utility preset to the duped track.

It will null.

Hi pottering,

you are damn right and now I feel twice the amount of humiliation, because you corrected me in 2 forums already
I replied to your post on GS, so I keep it short here. Thank you for correcting me.

Cheers

Hi all.
I'm pretty new to Ableton Live (got 9 Standard) and also to this forum, so please bear with me eventually!

I've sort of "finished" setting up my recording setup, which actually would mean that Live is my DAW for recording multitrack and edit and do all the post-processing. I'm feeding it via USB from my Behringer X32 desk - so far so good.

I have slaved Live to my studio's master (MIDI) clock (coming from a Sequentix Cirklon). So I press play on the Cirklon, then after some silence bars, I start recording (mostly my jams).

OK - enough with the setup and workflow, here's the question: for what I want to do (namely "just" record audio in Live), do I need to disable warp at all? How much does warp affect the audio I record? I've read that it does not change anything on the audio file itself, so I could be safe and I would be able to give the same audio material to a friend of mine working with another DAW and he'd be working exactly on the same material?!

Thanks in advance for your replies.

BR and keep safe!
F.
