First look at Reaper
First look at Reaper
Just taking my first look at Reaper. Seems to be more recording oriented, which is fine with me on that point. Wouldn't mind getting a feedback from anyone here about their experience with it, the pros and cons as compared to Live.
Love the wave to midi work around. In fact, it was while researching for that functionality that I came up on it, although I had known about it for sometime now.
Anyway, would be good to hear some more pros...and cons.

Re: First look at Reaper
I don't use Reaper but have it installed because I like checking things, but one thing is sure:
Live is all about making things as direct and simple as possible, Reaper is all about possibly doing everything thanks to extreme customization features and huge menus and sub-menus.
They're almost completely opposed design and workflow-wise.

No, I am not looking for a Live replacement. I have tried all the major DAWs, and none can touch Live. Was just researching wav to midi and decided to give theirs a try.
One good thing is that it can be rewired to Live. Still exploring its features to see if there are any that may compliment my workflow in Live.

Does its audio to midi seems to work better than Live’s one?

Thiers is a real time work around using their tuner vst. Haven't seen a real time audio to midi in Live.

Ah ok, thanks for the info!
You can do real-time (with a bit of latency though) audio to midi in Live with M4L.

Thanks jur, will check it out. I like to use my electric bass and guitar in my productions, but haven't tried M4L.
Theirs is reasonable with latency but is not polyphonic although there is also a work around for that too.
I would love to record my guitars and be able to edit the notes afterwards, of course with no extra expense like midi guitar. Hopefully, we will get a capable vst to do this soon as my research has not turned up any so far.

Jam Origin’s MIDI guitar 2 is worth looking at if you haven’t already tried it. Works standalone and as a VST or AU plugin.
