Clip MIDI envelope routing

Post by DuggletonLive » Sun Mar 15, 2020 3:02 am

I use a workflow that often has multiple MIDI tracks controlling the same instrument track or external hardware instrument.
Is it possible to use the clip CC envelopes to control other elements of the instrument track such as macros, effects and send levels?
If it cant be done in Ableton natively, is there a M4L device which makes CC mappable to other parameters in the set?

If the instrument has its own MIDI assign system then you can route MIDI as normal.

But internally routed MIDI can't be used for remote control (Live's own MIDI Map Mode or Remote Scripts).

One workaround is using virtual MIDI cables like IAC and Loopmidi, to send MIDI outside then back into Live.

Be careful with feedback loops and note that MIDI used with remote control is not sent to the track's inputs anymore.

Thanks for the input.
I just tried this http://maxforlive.com/library/device/31 ... ntrol-bank
it seems to work well and do exactly what I was after. Avoids the pitfalls of virtual MIDI ports...
