SOMETHING I STILL HAVENT FIGURED OUT IN LIVE 10

Post by dukeeastwood » Sun Mar 15, 2020 11:54 pm

I posted this before so I'm just going to repost what I wrote before, I still have this problem and still do this...

In live 9 I could record with the automation arm on and just go away...drawing in automation lines as the arrangement played. Changing plugin parameters and seeing the automation line draw itself... not anymore...

Now in 10 I try to do the same thing and I get

1) the whole track i intend on automating graying out.
2) the automation line graying out.
3) the automation line changing but not reflecting on the plugin until i hit back to automation, hu?
4) With Automation arm on and MIDI arrangement overdub on in arrangement view, Ableton will start creating a new clip on the armed track and disabling the pointer from changing anything on that track.

So now what I do to work around this is I automatically make a new audio track, arm it, disable it's audio... hit F9... automate automation I intend to record, leave the disabled dummy record track for all automation recording.

I was pretty sure in live 9 you could just unarm all tracks and that's how automation only could be recorded... no? It's because it insists on arming one of the existing tracks that you get the undesired problems enumerated above. Now there are all these hoops to jump through... what do other people do?
