Sustain pedal records but won't play back
Sustain pedal records but won't play back
I have an M-Audio Oxygen 61 midi controller, and I'm using Ableton Live Intro (8.0.7).
I've been using Live a long time without this problem, but lately when I record keys, the sustain pedal registers while I'm playing, and sometimes even registers on first playback, BUT after I've switched away to edit something else and then try playback again, the sustain pedal information seems to have vanished from the recorded data and I'm left with plunking staccato sounds.
I've restarted Live, and even used a midi monitor to make sure the pedal registers (it obviously does, because while performing it sounds fine).
Is there something obvious I'm missing? Can anyone help?

Sustain is CC64. Write it directly.

Yeah, I've found that sometimes if the pedal is held down before the recording starts, the actual automation will be recorded but won't register upon playback.
After recording, if you manually go into the clip and adjust the envelope for the Sustain/Hold pedal so that there is a breakpoint just on the inside of the clip, it should enable the correct playback.

Not very ideal in a live scenario. Hopefully this is resolved in an update. If Ableton can recall your midi performances after forgetting to press record, surely it should be able to recall the sustain pedal being pressed before the start of a clip.
Re: Sustain pedal records but won't play back
Yaaa the sustain pedal has consistently failed to record correctly at midi clip start for years. I often hv to draw it in over first phrase. Per earlier mention, maybe it happens if sustain is accidentally pressed right before recording starts. Usually the CC 64 release-and-engage signals are correct tho in the remaining clip portion when I hv this problem.

Yeah, I am finding the same problem, I think this is what's happening -> viewtopic.php?f=3&t=203769&p=1787585#p1787585annadyne wrote: ↑Thu Mar 26, 2020 4:17 pmYaaa the sustain pedal has consistently failed to record correctly at midi clip start for years. I can't believe there is not a fix for this :/
