VST2 plugin issue

Post by squuesh » Thu Apr 09, 2020 8:25 am

Hello,

I changed laptops at the beginning of Feb and have reinstalled all my plugins. However now when I reopen some of my live sets where I have used a VST2 plugin I get an error message saying not found and the plugin is disabled.

I have tried installing older versions of the plugins but can only see VST and VST3. Unless VST2 is called VST in Ableton I'm not sure what's going on.

Anyone have any ideas on what's going on here? Is it possible to direct the plugins to VST3?

Thank you!

Hi,

Sounds like the destination needs a rescan.
You can try a rescan of you plug-in folder.
Turn the location off and on and press alt/option rescan.

Thanks for getting back to me.
I had tried both those things but it didn’t work.
Still getting the same error message even after restarting my computer and trying that again.

Can you see the missing plugins in the VST folder Outside Ableton?

Ok so I've tried loads of different things and still haven't found a fix!

OS is Sierra 10.12.6.
Ableton live suite 10.1.9

There are two plugins which have this issue for me - SoundHack's freeware bundle specifically ++decimate, and Auburn Sounds Graillon.

https://www.soundhack.com/freeware/

I completely deleted all elements of these plugins and installed Soundhack's version v.8.03 this morning so I could only see ++decimate under VST. But I am still getting the error message after scanning multiple times and checking the plugin is in the VST folder. This also doesn't make sense to me as this older version looks different, and I have never used it. So I tried reinstalling v9.10 - which I am pretty sure is the version I have always had - did all the checks, and it's still saying VST 2 plug-in not found.

It's just annoying because these plug-ins are showing as disabled on my older sets, and there is no way to see what settings I had them on.

I have the same Issue since I updated to the newest version. I downloaded the older version to check this and yes they work in 10.1.3 but not in the newest.. Either the VST2 need another update or it's a bug somewhere along the updates?
