Sampler warp markers and batch velocity layering.

Post by jamesway » Thu Oct 27, 2016 6:11 pm

I love to drop a long clip with warp markers into a sampler and right click to "use warp markers for velocity" or "use warp markers for note" and have Sampler auto copy each hit to a new respective velocity layer or note. Similar to the how the factory studio drum rack samplers are set up. That way we could record say, hitting a tin can with a stick at low to loud, and then just drop it in, boom velocity mapped.

Also, is there no auto detect transients and add warp markers without using quantize? No warp marker batch options, like predelay start by milliseconds, or transient volume thresholds? Having a threshold slider to drag over a clip and a filter could add some very interesting effects, as far as how the markers are placed rhythmically and by what frequency range.
Ableton is pretty tedious and lacking a lot of professional features when it comes to these things.

I'd also really like to see some more control over the convert "" to new type options.

Wow, I posted this a long time ago. No replies? No similar feature added? Seriously this would be an invaluable creative tool. Maybe I should stick with other apps for sound design and sampler creation purly based on workflow? It's simple, add warp markers with some filters for volume detection and length, then add a "map to velocity" in sampler. Seriously, why is this not a feature? Imagine the workflow and the fun. DOOO ITTT! DOOO ITTT NOWWW! GET TO THE CHOPPPAAA!

+1

Transient handling and lack of volume/frequency treshold or filtering are really annoying me and taking up a lot of useless time.
Sample handling:
Just imported a mixdown of a drum recording for a new track and I'd like to only quantize based on 1/4th notes, to keep everything in between a bit organic. Seems to be impossible to do this without manually selecting every transient corresponding to 1/4th's? And even then, multi-selecting transients isn't possible, only warp markers?
Warp marker batch options:
Another desirable approach in the example of above would be a filter for only sub 200Hz frequencies to be detected as transients. That would roughly filter out the kick and snare.

I've been really looking at moving back to recycle that I used, what, 15 years ago?! It shouldn't be that much of a problem integrating this kind of feature, right?!
