Plugin (M4L?) to thin out notes?

Post by rgbtwins » Mon Apr 13, 2020 10:29 pm

Hi

Is there a MIDI Effect / M4L plugin that will "roll the dice" to decide whether to play MIDI notes I send through it? The Ableton Random effect has a % chance that the pitch will change, I'm looking for something that gives me a % chance the note will be triggered.

I've got the Probability Suite, but that's kind of focused on other things... I... think...

Thanks!

you could use 2x Velocity devices too – 1st to set the randomness, 2nd to gate notes below the threshold.
here's a rack i made which thins out the note stream (it does strip any velocity variation you play though, which might not be ideal):

That's clever, thanks!
